Michael and his little Treasure : Celebrating Father’s Day
Becoming a Father was the most emotional and greatest moment of my life, my Daughter means absolutely everything to me. With her birth I was bestowed with the title of Dad, something that can never be taken from me, I will always be her Dad.
dap·per |ˈdapər|
adjective (typically of a man) neat and trim in dress, appearance, or bearing.
Dapper is one of those words that seemed to have gone awol for a decade or so, seemingly inviting itself back into our lives and I believe it is due to the rising (again) of the ‘Gentleman’. I would and do class myself as a Dapper Dad. I look after my appearance, I sport a 50’s esque slicked hair style with side parting, a beard and I have a penchant for a good bow tie.
I love that Dads can now be harking back to the good ol’ days of when Gentlemen looked like Gentlemen. As a Dad I love to feel Dapper, it’s a compliment if ever there was one for a Father. To be called a Dapper Dad is empowering and confidence educing. I want my Daughter to be proud of me, to one day talk about me as a Gentlemen and a Father.
Pride in appearance and my bearing says a lot about who I am, it also shows my Daughter that her Dad is someone to look up to. Time has proven that the good grooming gene is often passed down from gentleman senior to gentleman junior, never more truthful in my case. My Father, Fathers Father and my his Father all were what we would describe a Dapper Dads, well groomed, well dressed and of the highest demeanour. Why it became the norm to not have these qualities is beyond me. With no Gentlemen Gene to pass down (yet), it is imperative that I show my little girl what it really means to be a Dapper Dad.

A classic Norfolk skyline, far out in the fens. In this house we have discovered a love of Rilke, and this brings him to mind:
“Therefore, dear Sir, love your solitude and try to sing out with the pain it causes you. For those who are near you are far away… and this shows that the space around you is beginning to grow vast…. be happy about your growth, in which of course you can’t take anyone with you, and be gentle with those who stay behind; be confident and calm in front of them and don’t torment them with your doubts and don’t frighten them with your faith or joy, which they wouldn’t be able to comprehend. Seek out some simple and true feeling of what you have in common with them, which doesn’t necessarily have to alter when you yourself change again and again; when you see them, love life in a form that is not your own and be indulgent toward those who are growing old, who are afraid of the aloneness that you trust…. and don’t expect any understanding; but believe in a love that is being stored up for you like an inheritance, and have faith that in this love there is a strength and a blessing so large that you can travel as far as you wish without having to step outside it.”

Beard Of The Week
Joe Roberts
What am I? Well, I am a human male being and I have had a beard of one style or another since I was 21. I am also a musician, singer songwriter, music facilitator and producer. My facial hair is not that important and yet, it is. Hair on my face has always intrigued me. It is nice to see and spins a web of thought into the history of men. The beast within.
Archetype – All of them, Is that allowed?
WHY ?
Their is everything in everything. We are all eventually everything. Maybe our own human skills lean heavier towards one thing and some days we feel more lover than magician. But I definitely relate to all of them.
